So this weekend I got out for the first time to a club with my camera in tow.  I got some really great shots of the band, and I'm super pumped since it turns out ..... THEY LIKE THEM TOO!!  I always have confidence issues when I'm trying to get better at something, be it guitar or photography but I'm settling in now. Tech stuff:  I spent most of the night shooting with the T2i's built in pop-up flash. BUT I combined it with a Gary Fong diffuser called a Puffer.  It works great for evening out the harsh lights of the flash and I think the results speak for themselves. Until next update, peace out! ~Tim

Halifax Trip

0 min read
Halifax is pretty awesome.  Spending a few days roaming around downtown led to great coffee, excellent foods and of course, fantastic photo ops!  I was able to make use of all of the lenses in my kit and made very extensive use of the kit lens (despite my general dislike for it).  I realized the photos wouldn't match the super high quality that my L glass gives me but I'm putting more of a focus on composition using the rule of thirds, color theory and exposure.  Man, there's a lot to take in but I've been spending some time with a fantastic book called "Composition: From Snapshots to Great Shots" by Laurie Excell, John Batdorff, David Bromme

I hadn't even realized that I had one of these things!  This is cool! I will deem this the first of hopefully many journal updates.  I need to start expanding my horizons for photography so I plan to record some of it here and share it with all of you.  My current gear includes a Canon 550D, 18-55mm kit lens, 70-200mm F4.0 zoom lens and a 50mm f1.8 prime lens.  As things go along, and I either collect new gear or get out on more excursions I'll update this thing, and maybe get some new followers! Cheers! Tim
